The "rattling" sound you refer to is probably 'piston rattle' which seems quite loud on the Savage at high rpm when the engine is lightly loaded.
I think Miroslav is talking about a bendix-clutch type of noise from the starter during shutdown. I've heard it on some bikes and it sounds like the starter is hanging up and finally disengages when the engine is shut off. I know of an '88 that does it loudly but it hasn't developed into a problem... yet. What's the consensus, is this a common LS sound?
